Heartland Robotics - Headquarters

Dr. Rodney Brooks, the former lead Robotics Researcher at MIT needed to develop a Robotics Lab in Central Square Cambridge for his new start-up called Heartland Robotics (now known as Rethink Robotics). BDG was asked to help them create the new laboratory for a business that would be focused on the “Importing of Jobs” to America through the use of robot teams managed by American workers. This innovative approach would lower the cost of manufacturing in the USA and offer highly paid technology jobs for the workers who managed and maintained the teams of robots. Their goal was to reverse the off-shore exiting of manufacturing from the USA to less expensive foreign counties.

BDG worked with Dr. Brooks and his researchers to program the laboratory and work spaces. The new facility created research space and manufacturing space surrounded by separate workspaces for the scientists.
